Kopytko Meats

Built in 1922 in Hamtramck, the Kopytko Meat Market on Jos. Campau had been in the original family until 2015.

Here’s an image of the store from ’22 or ’23.

I had driven by this store hundreds of times, and on the lucky occasion, I could see the second story columns while waiting for the nearby traffic light to change.  My jaw dropped when I crested the stairs.

A beamed ceiling, paneled walls, and the original silver chandelier.

And the original kitchen.

We were called to refinish the 1 1/4″ oak floors, which had 90 years worth of shellac, wax and varnish, and an edge that had been water damaged.
